I went to Tri-state for service because I thought a dealership would be able to fix my Dodge better then a regular mechanic. Dirk, the lead mechanic, assured me that since they were certified Dodge mechanics they would be able to fix my car in a timely manner. I had brought in all the paper work from the previous mechanic I had seen who told me that I needed to have my entire transmission replaced.
After Dirk took a look at my car, he informed me that the original mechanic was incorrect and that another part of the transmission was the issue. He "fixed" the problem and with parts and labor the whole total was $900.
I drive back home (an hour a way) and as I drive into my work the car starts acting up again going into limp mode. I call Dirk back up and explain that I have had the car no more then an hour and that I can not even drive it back.
He tells me that if I can get the back to him that he would take another look. I ask am I going to have to pay for “another look” or do I at least get to have a portion of the original $900 returned. He says that he was sorry but there was nothing he could do about the amount they charge.
Thinking that this might be a bit unethical I took it my family's local mechanic whom my parents have taken their car to for years. He takes on look at the transmission and tell me that because of the work Tri-state did to my car he had no choice but replace the entire transmission. He told me that the work was so shotty that if he tried to do a patch job it would break down again within a couple of weeks.
Word to the wise, take your cars anywhere but Tri-state. They will gladly work on your car, but you have to pay $90 for every hour they inspect it until they get it right.
